New Gear Head WC8500HD WebCam
Now that bandwidth is cheap and abundant and video is the chosen media of the web, it pays to have the best value webcam on the market. For some time these were cool toys, and in some respects they still are, but the webcam has finally started to cross over into the category of necessary peripherals, along with speakers, a printer, and a scanner. Video sites like YouTube, hobbies like video blogging, and the services like Skype’s free video chatting all make a webcam worth having.
In this review we will be looking at the new Gear Head WC8500HD WebCam. This is an upper tier product with all the bells and whistles that other company’s offer but at a better retail price point. This is not Gear Heads smallest camera, but it is aimed at users who are looking for a great experience with HD video, proper lighting, and great sound from an integrated microphone. There are a lot of webcams available at, or under, the WC8500HD price point but not with as many features, so choosing one just got easier. The WC8500HD looks great on paper but let’s take a close look to see how it performs under actual use. Gear Head has been doing a very solid job with the webcam category lately so expectations are high, especially given the price of this model.
